MEETING POINT: 7:30 a.m. in Lecco at Galli Ezio Here we compact the cars and drive up to the trailhead in Valdidentro (2.5h drive)
LUNCH: if there is time and availability you can eat at the refuge, just bring something packed for safety.

A wide valley, horizons that get lost, a frame of snow-capped peaks, the Alps in their majesty. Our walk starts at the Baite di Altumeira (2125m), we continue along a wide cart track, past past pastures, huts and friendly cows (not purple) until we reach the Rifugio Viola (2314m). Built as a blockhouse in the First World War, then used by the Guardia di Finanza to combat smuggling with Switzerland, it is now refreshment for us hikers! We stop for food, a little relaxation, a good coffee and descend on a path past small lakes towardsAlpe Dosdè and a splendid stone hut, Rifugio Federico Dosdè (2133m). A gentle ascent and descent brings us back to our cars.
