The power of water, scenic trails and villages frozen in time. From Acquafraggia to Savogno and Dasile, a circular route brimming with beauty, to be enjoyed together and rounded off with a well-deserved lunch at a mountain refuge.
There are places where the mountains never cease to amaze at every turn, offering unforgettable views and an atmosphere of times gone by. Valchiavenna is one such place, and on 8 May we have the chance to discover some of its most picturesque spots on a lovely circular walk.
Our itinerary will begin atthe Acquafraggia waterfalls, one of the valley’s most captivating natural spectacles. Here, the water plunges from above in a series of spectacular drops, creating a truly unique landscape where the power of nature blends with the beauty of the surrounding mountains.
Leaving the waterfalls behind, we’ll set off along footpaths and ancient mule tracks that tell the story of a region that has always been closely linked to the mountains. Our destination will beSavogno, a charming stone village perched on the mountainside, where time seems to pass at a different pace. Its stone houses, picturesque alleyways and cosy atmosphere will take us on a delightful journey through local history and traditions.
The route will continue as we exploreDasile, a small mountain village that retains the charm of life in days gone by and offers panoramic views of the valley. It will be an opportunity to walk at a leisurely pace, take in the landscape and appreciate those details that often go unnoticed when you pass through places too quickly.
And after taking in the beauty of the trails and the views, there’ll be no shortage of one of the most cherished pleasures of our hikes:lunch at a mountain refuge – a chance to get together, share our impressions of the day and enjoy the convivial atmosphere of a meal in the mountains.
We shall then complete our circular walk, taking with us memories, emotions and the satisfaction of having spent a day surrounded by nature.

MEETING POINT: 8.30 am at Galli Ezio, Via Fiandra, 15, 23900 Lecco LC. We’ll carpool from here and drive to Borgonuovo (SO) – a 1 hour 15 minute drive

What to bring: Hiking boots, water, a rucksack, and clothing suitable for the weather.
LUNCH AT THE MOUNTAIN HUT (packed lunch if you prefer)
Difficulty: Cart tracks and woodland paths. The iron staircases are quite steep, but there’s always a handrail.
