Let’s start the year on the right foot! 365 metres of elevation gain – a good omen for the year ahead!
With the crisp air and our eyes turned skywards, a good morning (and a happy new year!) starts first thing! We’ve planned a walk with exactly 365 metres of elevation gain – just like the number of days in the year!
Let’s follow a circular route around Monte Barro, taking in scenic footpaths, the Gothic village, breathtaking views of the Briantei Lakes, and a lovely clearing where we can enjoy a New Year’s Day picnic!
From Galbiate, we follow a path that will take us to the archaeological park, a 5th-century village unearthed 40 years ago. We carry on to the ‘Cappello degli Alpini’, a spot with stunning views that never fails to take your breath away! A mostly flat path halfway up the hillside takes us to Pian Sciresa, where we’ll find wide open meadows and a few tables where we can have lunch. The path continues along the hillside, offering glimpses of Lake Como, and takes us back to Galbiate.
