Two days in the wild Val Tartano, a bivouac lunch, the vaunted Porcile Lakes and a romantic night in the Pirata refuge.
From the meeting point in Lecco we compact the cars and climb for about 1h to the village of Tartano (1170m). The path starts gently along a stream, then climbs up through the cool forest.
On reaching the Casera Alpe Püstarèsc (1714m) we fetch water for lunch and climb the last 20 minutes to the magnificent Rovedatti bivouac (1850m), a splendid stone and wood construction perfectly set in its natural surroundings. We light the cheap stove for a well-deserved lunch of spaghetti with sauce! A glass of wine, a taste of cheese, and a short nap before descending! Reaching the bottom of the valley, a 10-minute drive takes us to the Rifugio Pirata!
We have dinner at the refuge, for those who want to, we take an evening digestive walk through the hamlets, then off to bed to recover our energy! The following morning we climb through the forest and then in more and more open spaces to the Porcile Lakes. Packed lunch at the lakes (we can pick up sandwiches in the morning), and for the more daring, the chance to dive or even just get your feet wet in the cool waters! In a couple of hours we are back at the refuge where we have parked our cars.

WHAT TO BRING: Hiking shoes, layered clothing suitable for rain/wind, useful poles, sun cream, hat, backpack, water bottle. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any special requirements or clarifications. Sheet bag (can be purchased at the hut for €3). We sleep in a dormitory at a mountain hut, there are 2 shared bathrooms and 2 showers.
