But what is this Corno Birone? An unattractive name for an unusually alpine loop trail. We climb a rocky spur that looks out directly over Valmadrera, then over the Brianza lakes and finally over the plain as far as Milan.

Despite its modest height (1,116 metres) it has a grim appearance, rocks, pinnacles, and fairly impervious paths. We climb it along a varied route, including steep sections, hairpin bends and traverses.

Theblossoms of spring show between the yellow of the ‘paglione’ and the grey of the limestone. On the way, we enjoy unusual views, worthy of much higher and more famous mountains.

And at the end of the ‘tour’, having arrived a little tired at the cars, the proximity to the roads to Milan should prevent us from having to queue, which is not bad!
