The ease of a cable car ride up to a village perched like a balcony overlooking the lake. This is where our circular trek begins, through woods and vast panoramic views, as we set out to discover hidden peaks and unspoilt nature.

Ready to reach the heights in the blink of an eye? We’ll be boarding the Argegno-Pigra cable car, which has finally reopened! An exhilarating 4-minute journey awaits us on one of Italy’s steepest cable cars, with gradients reaching almost 95 per cent. A vertical drop of 650 metres will propel us, as if in flight, directly above the spectacular backdrop of Lake Como. Once we arrive in Pigra, we’ll explore the village’s quaint stone-paved alleyways, famous for their quirky ‘artistic cats’.
Leaving the village behind, we’ll walk through a picturesque high-altitude beech forest to the Bocchetta di Pigra. From here, the path becomes a scenic, undulating route at an altitude of around 1,300 metres, winding through meadows that often feature the first sprinkles of snow. We’ll reach the summit of Monte Pasquella, a peak little known to mass tourism but offering an extraordinary 360-degree view stretching from the Grigne mountains all the way to Switzerland.

To complete the loop, we’ll descend gently through the woods towards the Val d’Intelvi, walking in silence amongst the trees, where it’s not uncommon to spot wild deer. Once back in the village, we’ll enjoy a well-deserved coffee or a spritz with friends, before taking the cable car for a dizzying evening descent towards the lake, rounding off our day amongst the illuminated bars of Argegno.
