Hidden corners along the ridge of the famous San Primo.
Are you tired of the very popular ascent to the summit of the San Primo? Here is a new excursion to discover little-visited places on the west ridge of this famous massif.
We will discover the stories of the beautiful villages of Erno and Veleso perched on the mountains but overlooking the lake.
And along the way, the ancient Colmenacco alp with its enchanting views will tell us a very ‘Laghèe’ story, transhumance of cows via the lake on the historic comballi
We reach the mysterious Sasso Calvarone, an erratic boulder that the more daring can climb with …a ladder! And the view there is priceless over the Isola Comacina and Villa Balbianello. But it’s not over yet because with one last climb we reachthe summit of Colmenacco (the name is a bit so … but the view is incredible!).
A perfect walk on a clear winter’s day, with the lake providing a backdrop for long stretches of our walk on the way back…
LEVEL: + 750 m approx.
LENGTH: 15 km approx. DURATION: 4.5 h walking approx. Return approx. 5 p.m.
MEETING POINT: 9.00 a.m. at the car park in Piazza del MERCATO (Pizzeria Green Six) in Canzo (CO). From there, with a few cars in about 30 minutes we reach the starting point of the route in Veleso (CO)
Cost: 20 €
What to bring: boots, water, rucksack, clothing suitable for the weather, poles recommended. If there is snow, crampons (if you don’t have them, we will rent them) LUNCH IN PACKAGE
Difficulty: cart tracks, mountain trails.
