Just above Lake Como, after olive trees and heat-loving plants, we will often find chestnut trees in the woods.
The ‘selve castanili’ (this is the name of chestnut forest) were cultivated and maintained with care, because the precious fruit was one of the main food sources in the not too distant past.
Along the path that was the ancient communication route between the lake and the mountain, we can also discover ancient hunting posts
This medium-intensive hike starts directly from the lake and takes us through woods and clearings to discover the chestnut tree, but also provides us with views and beautiful blooms depending on the season.
Old hunting lodges, they are now delightful huts hidden among the plants, places to seek out and discover.
Meet at 9.30 a.m. at Parking Piazzale degli Alpini Onno di Oliveto Lario (LC). In front of Onnolulu Bar. The activity will end at about 3.30p.m. Bus stop nearby, pick up at your hotel if needed.
