Meeting in Lecco just before 9.00am, we take the train which takes us to Varenna in 20 minutes. We pass through this magnificent town, via boat we reach the splendid Menaggio. From here our walk begins, between the lake and sumptuous villas, between gardens and castles, we walk along pedestrian roads and ancient mule tracks, the renowned Via Regia, centuries ago the only connecting route on this side of the lake, today reserved for us adventurous walkers. From Menaggio we skirt the lake towards Rezzonico, admiring Villa La Gaeta (James Bond Casino Royale), Villa Camilla, and Rezzonico Castle, before descending to Cremia where we will be welcomed atHotel Lumin , a lovely 3-starhotel with a lake view. We recover our strength with a good dinner and rest our bodies for the next day…

MONDAY 1 JUNE
A good breakfast overlooking the lake, and we resume our walk on the footpath along the shoreline. From beach to beach we reach Pianello del Lario, picturesque Musso, Dongo, villages linked to the events of the Duce, who was captured here. Remaining lakeside on this magnificent cycle-pedestrian path adorned with flowers and exotic plants, we reach Gravedona where a stop at the Baptistery of Santa Maria del Tiglio is a must! One of the most beautiful churches on the entire lake, it was a pagan temple already in Roman times! Passing by the Gallio Palace, a cardinal’s residence, we arrive at Domaso where, amidst olive groves and vineyards, we climb the hill that will lead us to the Sorsasso winery, to crown our journey with a tasting of the wines produced here, accompanied by cold meats and cheeses.
The return route will be by boat from Domaso to Varenna, where we will comfortably rest our legs while enjoying the view of villas and mountains directly from the lake. Expected return to Lecco at 17.00.
