Splendid ring around a peak symbol of our mountains
Who has never seen Sasso Gordona? At least from a distance! With its unmistakable profile, a truncated pyramid reminiscent of a volcano. We are in Val d’Intelvi, but in the less touristic part. In the shadow of this mountain Schignano from the famous Carnevale
On this still wintry occasion we will take a splendid tour around it . We start at the bucolic Pian delle Alpi with its farmsteads and a little further away the little church of San Zeno overlooking the valley. Along the way the traces of the legendary Cadorna Line because this mountain was also a military garrison under rock during the First World War.
And then the village of Colma di Binate, the southern slope with the Val Rema full of deer. Turning and turning through beech forests and views we also pass by the Rifugio Prabello for a coffee and a slice of cake before descending back to our starting point.

LENGTH: 10 km approx. DURATION : 3.30 h walking time approx.
MEETING POINT: 9.00 a. m. at BAR ESSENZA inside the Gran Mercato in Via Sebenico in Como (hamlet of Tavernola) – Park in the elevated car park next door. From there with a few cars we reach Val d’Intelvi in approx. 45 minutes.
Cost: 20 € – EXCLUDING: a la carte lunch at the refuge.
What to bring: boots, poles, water, hot tea, rucksack, clothing suitable for the weather. PACKED LUNCH
Difficulty: Mountain trails, but no particular technical difficulties.
