Meeting Point: Stazione Funicolare Como-Brunate Piazza Alcide de Gasperi, 4, 22100 Como CO.   The meeting point is easily accessible by Train, 5 minutes walk from the Come Lago Station (Stazione Come Lago.) For those coming by car, we recommend parking on Viale Geno , from Nautical Smile port onward parking costs 3€/day.
From Como we will ride the funicular up to Brunate (715m), a renowned resort area of the Comasca and Milanese bourgeoisie in the late 1800s’. (Funicular 3€)
From Brunate we will follow a mostly flat forest path and descent to the Monte Piatto hamlet. Here we will visit the Monastery of S.Elisabetta with mysterious legends and enjoy the remarkable panorama. Also at Monte Piatto we will see Pietra Pendula, a large erratic boulder that appears as if precariously poised on another smaller rock.
After a picnic lunch we will continue to the Borgo di Piazzaga and from here we will reach Negrenza, famous for the spectacular Massi Avelli, inhumation tombs excavated inside Massi Erratici around the 5th/6th century.
We descend along a comfortable mule track to the village of Torno, one of the pearls of the lake. We visit the Church of St. John the Baptist, which holds a nail from Jesus’ cross.
On the shores of the lake we have a well-deserved aperitif while waiting for the boat that will take us back to Como. (Boat €3.80).
